I have spent a career leading, working with, and answering to creatives of different skill sets,  backgrounds, temperaments and talent levels. Over that time, I’ve noticed two things: the skillsets that drive success are remarkably similar no matter seniority or discipline, and so are the blind spots that cause chaos. Poor time management, indecision, lack of actionable communication and unclear direction are department killers. The tactical skills for creatives to overcome them are lifelines. Over the past couple of decades as a creative director, GCD/ECD and operations head, I’ve made it my priority to lead in ways and create structures that reduce noise and chaos while allowing great creative thinking the time and space it needs to flourish. Even when time and space are in very short supply. I give creatives the tools they need to get to better, faster-- conceptual hacks, time management techniques, mastery of which details to sweat and an eye for spotting the dead ends that are a daily occurrence in our industry.

It's a series of skills I have gleaned from the greats and not-so-greats and years of finding my own solutions when the chips are down. I don’t want you to have to do that. I’d love to learn about your agency or brand team and how I can help them learn the skills of a creative tactician—a set of strategies and ways of working that eliminate destructive time waste, reduce burnout and most importantly, lead to better work, faster.

 

Creative Tactician Workshops

Bespoke full day workshops with creative teams and leadership that teach tactical conceptual hacks, time management techniques and creative director coaching for managing teams and providing actional feedback. The day consists of immersive instruction, discussion and application of tactical lessons to the work that’s actually happening within your agency or brand.

Creative Ops Audits

A short, full emersion with your creative department or wider team including observation, fact-finding with stakeholders and active teaching followed by a formal assessment and opportunities for further workshops and skills sessions.

Speaking Engagements

I like to talk and I have a few opinions. Speaking engagements are available on Tactical Concepting, Tactical Creative Direction, Tactical Pitching, Better Vendor Partnerships and student-oriented subjects like how to make your way in an agency and find success as an aspiring creative.
